Products of the Week

Hey Guys!
We hope that you all are enjoying your summer! We have been working the markets in our area spreading the word about Bubble Babez! I haven't had as much time as I would like to dedicate to focus on our blog and also our other media outlets. I think its time that we get an intern lol. We just hired our first employee and its a friend of mine's daughter her name is Brittney. She helps label and makes our hand tags for right now. Its her first summer job and she is doing excellent work! :)

Ok so I have been on Facebook keeping our fan page updated and I suggested that we do a Product of the week, where we give a discount on the product giving everyone a chance to try different things.

This week's product is one of my favorites! It is our Whipped Body Mousse! It will 15% off til 7/21/2011.

I love this product because it keeps me moisturized all day, I can use it right after the shower while my skin is still damp and I am baby soft all day long, its all natural, and I am now a nice rich red clay color LOL. I usually just put it on all over face, hair and body and didnt think about tanning! Let me tell you it tanned me so fast lol and I am already tan LOL. One of our customers at the market said I love this stuff I tanned and didnt turn red! :)

Some Products are on Hiatus.

Hey Guys,
Everyone has been waiting for summertime to arrive and now it is here! Its a wonderful time of the year but it is also a time when we have to put our products that melts easily away until the cooler weather comes back. Some of our best sellers have been put on the shelf for a while. Such as our Bath Truffles, Whipped Body Mousse, Select Bath Cocktails, Kremey Bubbles and Kitty Katnip. We will still sell the lotion bars because they come in a tin and if it should happen to melt you can put it in the refrigerator to harden and its as good as new.

We will still make the products available to anyone that wants to purchase them. Please send us an email at: bubblebabezco@gmail.com and we will ship it out to but at your own risk.

There are new items added to website and that includes our new cold process soaps, popsicle soaps and coming soon our new massage candles. We introduced our massage candles during our market visits and we are getting a really good response from them. They are selling out like hot cakes so we want to share them with all you. Our massage candles are all natural and VEGAN. We have a great selection of them and our best seller at the market is our Georgia Peach and Chocolate.

Also, I wanted to let you know many of you are shopping but you could be taking advantange of our refer a friend and win a chance to have a $150 Shopping spree at Bubble Babez. Selling Bath & Body Products in Summer at Markets

Hey Guys,
I know this is not one of my regular blogs, but hey, what is one of my regular blogs lol. I need to get better at this lol, Im seriously working on it lol. Ok so summer is just about here and we have been doing quite a few markets and shows. We have been traveling all over the place from Pennsylvania to Jersey to NY kinda like we've been on tour lol. We have had lots of fun doing them and learning, this is our first real time going out and doing the outdoor markets. I was looking around all over the place for articles, blogs or YouTube vids on tips on how to display your products in summer conditions. Unfortunately I have found none, I have seen people set up and other things but none related to how the products reacted in the heat.

Ok, so when we first started it was back in February sometime and we did some indoor markets which were great because we were in a cool environment. Spring has sprung so we began to do the outdoor markets, when we had cool days with a breeze our products were fine, but when the sun and heat got to us oh boy! This weekend we did a big market in Brooklyn, NY called BAM while it was an awesome event our products just could not stand up to the heat and sun. It seemed like it was the hottest day EVER! Sweat was literally pouring down our faces. We were under a tent but the heat and humidity still caught us. Our bath bomb cupcakes were getting soft, our Whipped Body Mousse melted and was bubbling (yes bubbling! LOL), Our soaps were melting on our display. We tried our best to rotate out products and we always put 2 up on display and have the rest of the products under the tables. But we noticed that everything was melting and quickly. We put our products that could melt in a cooler with ice, and that worked but we had to consider our customers who were going to walk around in the heat it was still going to melt or soften! Needless to say that we lost money on our products being destroyed because of the elements. Some where able to be salvaged but most were just destroyed.

Ultimately, we put our "meltable" products away until the sun went down and thats when it got cooler. We put them out again and we were selling like hot cakes but we could have all along if our products did not deteriorate with the climate conditions.

So here are my tips for selling in the summer time:
-Do not sell shea butter products because they melt fast. (Our Whipped Body Mousse is one of our big sellers at the market but when people seen them all melted it turned them off! We had the fresh ones under the table and said this is what they look like when they are fresh lol!)Maybe sell it in a liquid form because in the heat it will definitely melt!

-If you sell any oils make sure to keep them in dark bottles because the sunlight will help your oils go rancid quickly. If you are selling after shower oils, massage oils and they are in a clear or frosted plastic keep them in the shade, and if someone purchases it have black or dark bags to place them in.

-If you sell Melt & Pour Soap and it gets really hot, keep in mind that the soap has been melted down to use and if it gets hot enough it will get soft and melt. My mom came up with a really good suggestion on how to keep your products protected, she said make a color copy of what the actual soap looks like glue it to styrofoam, put that on the display so that people can see the product but it is not exposed to the elements. Keep your soap in a cool area and when people want a product you just get one from under the table.

-If you make Cold Process Soap make sure if your doing outdoor markets you use a recipe that can hold up in the warm conditions. The softer bars of soap only get softer when its extremely hot and the sun is beaming on it.

-If you sell Bath Bomb Cupcakes, they will definitely give in to the humidity and start reacting. A friend of ours on Twitter had the same problem selling at the markets and suggested selling the bath bombs in powder form instead of the cupcakes or spheres. Even though it makes your display look really nice, there is nothing nice about a dripping soft cupcake.

-Bath Truffles are just off of our menu for the summer, we will still mail them out with a message do not leave package in the sunlight. But they are not going to be at the markets unless we have a cool day or until the end of September!

-Displays-We have a wooden display that Tristan built, we painted it black and it got really hot and literally cooked the soaps. So if you have a wooden display keep it unfinished. Im not sure but I think the black paint aided in "cooking" our soaps.

Things that I think are ok to sell at the market in hot summer months:
Body wash, Body/Massage Oils (only in dark bottles or in shade), Body Splash, Moisturizing body mist, Sugar Scrubs (ours held up unbelievably well in the heat), Lotions, Mud Masks, Bath Salts.

Ideas for great products in the summer:
Cooling soaps and lotions
Bug Repellant
Pedicure sets
Things for tanning and products with sunscreen

If you want to be sure of what products can hold up in the elements try putting them outside on a table in the sun and see how well it holds up. If it holds up well then you know you can work with it at the market, it not then you need to be prepared and work out a solution. We are going to try lining our boxes we store our products in with the reflective pad things you put in your windshield to block out the sun and heat and see if that works (another suggestion from my fabulous mother who should have a bargain diy show but I digress lol). I will keep you posted on how well that works for us. Nothing is worst then having a beautiful display and your products spoil and you have a loss for the day and people dont see the beauty or purpose in your products. So preparedness is one of the best things for a soaper! I hope that you have enjoyed this post.

Happy Soaping,
Nik

So long ago!

I am so bad with writing the blog. There has been so much going on since March! I can believe its been that long. BTW Gianni is now 1yr old and almost walking and talking lol. We have also had our birthday at Bubble Babez as of May 1st we have been in business for a year. We have not yet celebrated our birthday but we will, it will just be a little late lol our Belated Birthday Party!

Wth we have been up too??
Since spring has sprung its market time, so we have been traveling around and doing quite a few markets. We have also been blessed to be a vendor at David's Bridal so we have been getting things ready for that as well.

I have also made my first batch of Cold Process soap and I will be adding them to our menu soon! I have been converted, after all the research I have done it seemed like it was going to be a piece of cake because in my head I knew what I was doing lol. I had made a video and put it up on YouTube

I am working on a recipe that I think you all will love they are all natural and vegan! Yes I am making the switch lol. I am still learning how to make them in cakes but I definately know how to pipe my soap on the top from all the practice with the bath bomb cupcakes. So be on the look out for them. :)

We have also added new products to our menu, Our new campaign is Happy Hour Bath Cocktails. Our bath cocktails are a blend of bath salts for relaxation and detoxification. It would be great to share with someone or just to soak alone :) Some of them have a whipped cocoa butter frosting that you can allow to dissolve with the bath salts to make a moisturizing soak or you can detach the frosting and use the cocoa butter whip as a lotion bar after the bath.

Our Cocktails are:

For a limited time with any purchase at Bubble Babez you will receive one mini bath salt cocktail.

I hope all is well and I will definitely get better with blogging lol.

Everytime!

Everytime I say I am going to keep up with the blog, life gets in the way and I just forget. Well I wanted to apologize for that. Also, I want to address the topic about winning prizes. I think that should be in another post. As a matter of fact I am going to address it now this will just be a longer post lol.

PRIZES:
If you won a prize from Bubble Babez via Twitter,YT, FB or Blog. It takes 2-4 weeks to ship out the prizes, if we are busy due to holiday or a sale then it may take up to 4-6 weeks. All items are handmade and made in small batches to ensure freshness. We have had a few situations where we were blasted on Twitter for not sending out prizes as swiftly as they thought the prizes should have been sent out. So because of that we are no longer offering contests on Twitter. We do apologize to all of our followers.

On another note, good things are happening and starting for us. Lets start off with our new website, I am so excited about the new site. With the old site when the site had a lot of traffic, it would give error messages. So we went with a bigger company and hopefully fingers crossed it will be better.

I have been working for almost 2 weeks trying to get the site up. I hope you guys like it! We have so many new products for you to try. We have quite a few new soaps that I love. My favorite product at this moment is the Whipped Body Mousse & Escandalo soap. The Whipped Body Mousse melts in your hands right before your eyes. All natural, no preservatives or chemicals! I use it directly out of the shower while my skin is still wet and it blends in so well. You would think since your skin is wet and applying body creme it would just move around on your wet skin or leave you a white film on your skin but it doesnt. I am very proud of this product and I cant say enough about it. I do have to warn people that do not like "greasy" products at first when you apply it, it is a little greasy. But it absorbs into your skin within minutes and it leaves your skin feeling baby soft and moisturized all day! My favorite scent at this moment is La Juicy by Dana LaJeunesse it smells like Vanilla frosting.

Ok so Escandalo when I recieved the Fragrance Oil, I was smelling the bottle like OMG this smells amazing! It smelled familiar but I couldnt quite place it. When I soaped with it I was like "O my this is so freaking good" lol. I had to get me a slice so I keep smelling it. Yes it was my own slice lol I wouldnt sniff the ones to sell that would be gross lol. Not to mention unsanitary lol. I was on Facebook one day and I had to tell my supplier all about this fragrance and how much I loved it. So a fellow soaper Natures Art who is very awesome said she had used it as well and loved it. She then told me what it was the dupe for and then I was like "AHHHHA thats what it is!" LOL. The scent smells like Caress! Thats my old all time favorite soap! When I let Tristan know about it, she was like oh yea but wasnt as excited about it as I was lol. So, while shopping in Walmart, I picked up a bar of Caress and I was like "Look babe, Smell it!" lol and she said which is a compliment to my supplier "O I smell it, it smells good but ours smell BETTER!" lol. I must admit it does lol.

We also added a few new soap cakes for our Bakery Section in The Soap Bar. We are working on building The Candy Section up:

Key Lime Pie

Sugar Cookie Brulee

Peaches & Cream

Last but not least in the bakery section is my oldest sons favorite cake! The Lemon Coconut cake. Smells just like it, very yummy. The top is finished with whipped soap, coconut and glitter!

We also have a tropical soap called A Trip To Paradise. Smells like Pineapple Orchid. It really does remind you of an island getaway.

I also about to venture into making cold process soaps. I wanted to work on that this weekend but I the website took my whole weekend lol. It looks like I could be done by today, so fingers crossed that I will be :)

Love you guys so much,
Nik

Blog Sale Soon!

Hey Guys,
I hope all is well. While in the shower today (thats where I clear my head and have the best ideas) I thought it would be fun to have a blog sale. One of my friends Dana Lajeunesse had one a while back and on Twitter I see people doing it all the time. I wanted to do an exclusive preview of all of our new products that are not yet on the site. They will not make their way to the website until about 2 weeks from now.

We will also be changing our server to one that can handle more volume. When too many people are shopping on the site the shopping cart disappears or people get error messages. That will take place sometime next week, so we will be closing up shop for a couple of days next week until we get all the information transferred over. We will be doing an online launch to our new home.

Also, I will be looking for more green alternatives to our packaging. I was watching this movie called Tapped, you should really check it out. It had me thinking that we have all a role in preserving the planet and part of that is eliminating plastic waste that is showing up in our fish and also the chemicals that are lacing the containers. So even when we are thinking we are making good healthy decisions they is always something else. We are now recycling in our home, and being more cautious with our purchases. We never thought twice about where it was going and we will now make more conscious decisions. We are also thinking that maybe we can do a buy back program at Bubble Babez of plastic containers. I am definately going to get more proactive on matters like this. We are all responsible for making this Earth safe for our children and our children's children.

Be blessed,
Nik

AGES!

Gee Wiz! LOL I just wanted to say that! But it has been ages since I been on this blog to update it. I sincerely apologize, I had plans for myself to get this done and to be organized but life as usual got in the way! There is a saying by Woody Allen "Wanna make God laugh, tell him about your plans!" Indeed true. I wrote it down, remembered and still didnt get to it. There were just so many other things to do lol. Well since I last blogged, I have been reading the secret and created a Tumblr to document my life and hopefully by the end of the year I notice a significant difference in myself.

Well, whats new at Bubble Babez Bath Company? Plenty! We have finally come out with our bath sets dedicated to my friends since the holiday is about LOVE! LOL I will come back with a post to show all the pics :)

We are introducing shower gels, whipped body mousse, whipped sugar scrubs & body splashs. My aunt Diana ( I call her Dee Dee) has been on me since we opened the company to do shower gels. She would tell me "I did a poll when I was out and asked how many people are bath people and how many are shower people?", I would always laugh it off and say its coming, its coming. She would drop such subtle hints like, give me shower gels to look at their ingredients, send me empty shower gel containers in the mail and bring me empty containers from the trial shower gel I was attempting lol. So its safe to say she finally got her way lol. The shower gels are paraben and sulfate free! I have really been thinking of ways to go more green and I will be making changes throughout the year.

I have watched this movie Tapped about the water that we get for free, that we pay for and where all of the plastics end up. I am thinking of a send back program or something like that to recycle. The plastic pellets are ending up in the fish we eat everywhere. So I think we need to make more conscience decisions about recycling and keeping the planet going for the generations that come after us. If we keep things up this way we wont have one. So I definately want to do my part.

If you have any "green" suggestions for me I am interested and would love to hear what you have to say.

I am working on something big for expectant mothers and I am super excited about it. I think you all will love what I come up or at least I hope you will :) One of my friends on Twitter has been asking me for months, when I was coming out with a baby line. I am ready now and I will be incorporating my sewing chops as well. I always have to sew something lol.

I am on my way out to the store to get baskets for the Valentine's Day Collections if you have not checked them out yet http://bubblebabez.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=ValentinesDay&Sub=71&isThumbs=Yes&Thumbs=200

There is something there for everybody!

Well I hope you all have a blessed and productive day!
Nik
